On your first visit, you and Dr. Joe will sit down together for a free consultation. If you and Dr. Joe feel like you are in the correct office and it is a good fit for you, he will perform a very detailed initial evaluation to determine the course of action to take. This exam typically consists of orthopedic and neurologic tests, posture evaluation as well as a static EMG “nerve scan” to determine how well your nervous system is functioning.
X-rays are an important tool for chiropractors to see exactly what is happening with the spine. If Dr. Joe finds it necessary at the conclusion of the exam, a set of digital x-rays will be taken using our state of the art x-ray system.
On your second visit, Dr. Joe will sit down with you again and go over every detail of the exam results from the first day. During this visit you will find out exactly what is going on, what is going to be done about it, how long it will take and how much it will cost. Dr. Joe personally customizes your recommendations based on the exam results because he understands the importance that each and every person is different and shouldn’t have the exact same treatment. Dr. Joe makes sure that there are no surprises when it comes to your care, he and his staff walk you through each and every step so you never feel lost or overwhelmed.

Phases of Care
PHASE ONE – CRISIS CARE
Think of this phase as the moment you are in pain. However, the moment that you are in pain typically isn’t the first sign that there is something wrong. For example, if your car breaks down did it do so suddenly or was it because you neglected to have it taken care of and it slowly began to break down over time until it finally gave in? Whether it is back pain, heart disease or even cancer, oftentimes pain is the last symptom to appear. When patients receive chiropractic care, pain is usually the first thing to disappear. This is great but Dr. Joe’s main concern is the root cause of the problem and getting that corrected, which leads us to corrective care.
PHASE TWO – CORRECTIVE CARE
This is the most important phase during the healing process, and also Dr. Joe’s specialty. The reason why this phase is so important is because if you only focus on getting out of pain, the underlying cause of the pain does not get corrected and the condition is likely to return.
The goals here are typically to restore functional movements and correct structural changes. There is also a focus on remodeling and strengthening the body and spine. Depending on the severity and amount of time that someone has been dealing with a certain condition they might be in this phase anywhere from a couple of months to a couple of years. As your body is going through this phase of healing, there will be occasional mild flare-ups but it is important to understand that this is normal and don’t let it discourage you.
PHASE THREE – WELLNESS CARE
This is Dr. Joe’s most exciting phase of care because this is where your body is functioning the way it was designed. Pain isn’t present in this phase but life happens and if you were to get hurt then your body would be able to adapt and heal much quicker since your nervous system is functioning at such a high level. Life is full of physical, emotional and chemical stresses that are put on the body every day. Making chiropractic a part of your lifestyle helps you to avoid those costly trips to the doctor. Just like it is important to have your teeth checked regularly by your dentist, it is important to have your nervous system checked regularly to make sure your body is functioning properly.
